This will be the first game for Perth Scorchers in this season. After losing first game to Sydney Thunder they will be under pressure. Sydney Cricket ground will host this match. It is last year’s BBL final rematch. Perth Scorchers will start the tournament as defending champions. Even Perth Scorchers have a superior head-to-head record over Sixers. The only problem for Scorchers is some of their star players are no national duty. Can Perth start the tournament with a win in absence of their stars?
Sydney Cricket Ground – Sydney, Australia
Cloudy and showers are expected
Plenty of runs could be scored in each innings as a flat batting track is expected for this game. Even 180 may not be safe here.
Team News : Sydney Sixers
The team will want good knocks from Jason Roy and Nic Maddinson at the top of the order in addition to contributions from Moises Henriques and Peter Nevill down the order. Jason Roy will be the key man as he is very dangerous and at the same time destructive. If once he gets settled then he can take the match away from other team. Skipper Henriques did not impress in his first game but his team needs his aggressive batting in this match. Daniel Hughes is like a gun when it comes to the piercing gap in the field as a hard hitter. He is another good batsman for Sixers at top of the order. Sam Billings should play the same kind of game he has played against Thunder in middle order. Pace bowling will depend on Doug Bollinger and Daniel Sams. A part from Sams no other bowler picked a single wicket in last game. If they bowlers repeat the same then they will definitely lose another match. Steve O’Keefe will be the best spin option.
Henriques (c), Roy, Hughes, Maddison, Billings, Nevill (wk), Conway, Botha, Bollinger, Steve O’ Keefe, Abbot, Sams, Silk
Team News : Perth Scorchers
They will start the tournament as defending champions. 13 members squad has been announced for opening match and Voges will lead this side. Cameron Bancroft and both Marsh brothers are currently representing Australia in Ashes so that they are not available. This is going to be difficult for Perth without their star players. Another blow for Perth is Klinger withdrew himself from early stages of BBL due to personal reasons. Now batting order will depend on skipper Voges, Cartwright. Any one of them should make a big score in this game. England all rounder Willey could get an oppurtunity to open the game. The Scorchers have a sharp pace attack with the likes of Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Johnson and Andrew Tye. Ashton Agar and Ashton Turner are their spin options.
Voges (c), Agar, Bosisto, Cartwright, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Johnson, Muirhead, Paris, Philippe, Jhye Richardson, Turner, Andrew Tye, Willey
