The islanders did not give any fight in 2nd Odi and gave their wickets easily to Kiwis. They lost test series already and now getting ready for another whitewash. West Indies are still in search of a win on the tour. In this year, Windies lost 15 ODIs out of 21 ODIs they have played and this is a disastrous year as they have lost direct entry into the 2019 World Cup. Another golden chance for islanders, West Indies, to win at least this final match in the absence of New Zealand star players. On the other side, New Zealand will look to seal a series whitewash against the West Indies, after winning the first two matches of the three-game ODI series already.
Hagley Oval – Christchurch, New Zealand
Showers are expected
Christchurch is known to be a pacer’s paradise, with the greenness of the surface and the swing it offers. We have already witnessed in 2nd Odi how Boult ran through West Indies line up. If New Zealand bats first we can expect high score.
Team News : New Zealand
New Zealand have won ODI series already and they will aim for whitewash once again. They are unlikely to make changes. In last match only Trent Boult did extremely well with ball but his co bowler Matt Henry did not impress. Even Broom, who came in for Williamson did not contribute with bat but still Kiwis likely to give another chance for both players. Still if they want to make changes then Rance will play but chances are very very less. They have a very strong batting line up and i don’t want mention everything clearly about their strong top order.
Team News : West Indies
Though Windies board announced a good squad but this time injuries are hurting them. Their top players were injured during practice sessions and inexperienced batting line up struggled to face Kiwis pace attack. At least from that defeat in 2nd Odi, I think West Indies might have learnt something and will be careful in this 3rd match. Gayle did not play last Odi due to illness but his playing chances are good in this match. At the top of the order, Kyle Hope is expected to make way for Gayle. Lewis is doing his best part in the on going ODI series. Gayle and Lewis should lay a solid platform for West Indies and the middle order must continue that. Team work is necessary for islanders now, they all need to become as a unit. They have good batting line up in likes of Powell, Shai Hope, Jason Mohammad, Holder and all of them must contribute with bat then only they can challenge Kiwis. A head of 3rd ODI, another big blow for West Indies is their bowlers Kesrick Williams (hamstring injury) and Ronsford Beaton (side strain) will miss this match.
