INDIAN PREMIERE LEAGUE being just 2 weeks round the corner all the domestic players are trying to prove their point and performing well to make a mark for their team. A sensational performance was witnessed during the J.C.Mukherjee Trophy, where yet another Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha showed extra ordinary batting skills.
Wriddhiman Saha, who was picked by SRH for INR 5 crore in the 2018 IPL auction, hit a blistering 20-ball 102-run knock for his team Mohun Bagan in a JC Mukherjee Trophy match against BNR Recreation Club in Kalighat.
His innings had 14 sixes and four boundaries apart from two singles. Wriddhiman finished the match in the seventh over hitting medium pacer Aman Prasad for six sixes. However, the over yielded 37 runs as he bowled a wide delivery. The final six brought up the India Test specialist’ hundred.
Saha, opened the innings with Skipper Subhomoy Das who scored (43* of 22). Saha scored 102 of just 20 balls at a strike rate of 510.00, his innings had (14×6,4×4,1×2). Due to which the team chased down the total of 151 runs in just 7 overs.
Even though Saha plays only Tests for India as of now, the Bengal player is by no means one-format player. Saha has played 164 T20 games at the domestic level and has 2718 runs to his name at a strike rate of 130.73, scoring one hundred (115*) and 14 half centuries.
“I could feel from the first ball that I was able to hit the ball in the middle and I went for it,” Saha, who loves to open the batting in limited overs cricket, told reporters after the match.
“Not sure of this being a record, but looking into the IPL, I tried to play different shots and it worked.”
