Finally the Ashes is upon us. Many of us are eagerly looking up for this months and finally the Ashes day has come. Australia will be hoping to win it back on their home turf while England will be waiting for their urn. This is the one of the most historical cricketing events in the world. Coincidentally, both teams won 32 series and this upcoming series is a must win for both the teams. In the past six years, England have been white washed twice in Australia. From this we can get a clear indication of home team domination. Australia have been mighty impressive at home with six wins in their last 7 matches. On the other side, England are looking little unsettled and they will play this series without their star all rounder Ben Stokes. Interestingly Australia have not faced a single defeat at Gabba in their last 28 test matches played at this venue. This will be big challenge for visitors to overcome on home side.

Team News : Australia
Skipper Steve Smith and vice captain David Warner are expected to be Australia’s most dominant with the bat. Khawaja is also in good form. The Australian selectors included Marsh, Bancroft and Tim Paine into the squad. Warner has an average of 55 at Gabba and has 3 centuries in six matches at this particular venue. Australia will surely go in to as favorites as they have an unassailable record in Gabba in tests. Cameron Bancroft has been in form of his life and will play his debut test. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be Australia’s best bets with the ball. Nathan Lyon is another good option and he can trouble the batsmen with his spin bowling. The only concern was Warner having injury in practice session but both Smith and Warner confirmed that it’s not major issue.
Team News : England
There have been lot of issues for Englishmen whenever they played against Australia at home. A young line up with experienced pace duo will be playing. If they win then definitely they will rewrite history. Alastair Cook is the leading run-getter for England in test cricket and he also has a hundred and two fifties in three tests at the Gabba. Cook has to play a vital role for England. Joe Root has been a run-machine for the side across all formats and the team’s batting will depend heavily on him as well. In practice matches Stoneman registered a century and it must have increased his confidence levels. With the ball, Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad, are very dangerous and these both have their own records and England will expect few early wickets from this duo. Moeen Ali will be their spin option.
